Our Story
Our Story: Education Beyond the Classroom
Smith Collins Academy was founded with a simple mission: to make high-quality, personalized education accessible to learners who need something more than a traditional classroom can offer.
Before opening Smith Collins Academy, our founder began as a homeschool educator, committed to creating a learning experience that honored each child's unique strengths, interests, and potential. That experience became the foundation for a larger vision: a school where every learner could be known, challenged, and supported.
Our journey began in Egypt, where our founder worked with students whose potential often went unrecognized in traditional classrooms. As demand grew, Smith Collins Academy prepared to move into its own dedicated learning space. When that opportunity changed unexpectedly, families and educators adapted together, creating meaningful learning experiences wherever they gathered.
One of the most memorable chapters of that journey was our partnership with the American Section of the Maadi Public Library, where students proudly attended what became affectionately known as “the library school.”
That experience shaped Smith Collins Academy in a profound way. We discovered that exceptional education is not defined by a building—it is defined by meaningful relationships, a strong academic foundation, and a community committed to helping every learner thrive. That philosophy continues to guide every Smith Collins learning community today, whether learning takes place on campus, online, through homeschool partnerships, learning pods, microschools, or international educational communities.
The name Smith Collins reflects our founder’s family heritage while honoring the legacy of educator Marva Collins, whose belief in the potential of every child inspired generations of educators. While Smith Collins Academy has developed its own educational philosophy, her commitment to high expectations, meaningful relationships, and personalized learning remains one of the inspirations behind our work.
Today, that same philosophy continues to shape every Smith Collins learning community, serving learners through personalized, whole-child, and globally minded education designed to prepare students not only for academic success, but for meaningful lives of purpose, leadership, and lifelong learning.
